Leading clubs, supporters’ trusts & experts outline their vision for fan engagement on May 14th in London

Everton & Lincoln City lead discussion at Victory Services in London on May 14th, joined by MUST and CST.

Leading figures from across the spectrum of fan engagement in football will appear together on the 14th May at ‘Life with Football Legislation; Preparing for Meaningful Fan Engagement & Consultation at the Victory Services Club, London.

This unique event will see two of the top clubs in fan engagement, two of the biggest supporters’ trusts, plus experts in governance, consultation and engagement will outline how fan engagement is changing the industry, and what fans and clubs can expect from the new regime of regulation.

Everton’s track record as a top club in fan engagement was further sealed last summer when they received a bronze award for their finish in the Fan Engagement Index, whilst Lincoln City achieved a gold. Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) & Chelsea Supporters Trust (CST) are two of the most influential organisations in English football. Think Fan Engagement’s Kevin Rye and Consultation Guru and leader in the field of stakeholder and public consultation, Rhion Jones, will also be speaking at the event.

The event has been organised by Think Fan Engagement (TFE), authors of the annual Fan Engagement Index, the leading measurement of fan engagement in English football, in collaboration with consultation expert Rhion Jones.

TFE’s Kevin Rye, said:

“I’m really delighted to have pulled together such a varied and expert group of clubs, organisations and people to help to lead the discussion about the huge changes we’ve seen in fan engagement over recent years, and how that’s only going to escalate as we see the introduction of the Independent Regulator. Both Everton and Lincoln City football clubs are two of the best in the field, as seen by their Fan Engagement Awards last year, and both put a huge amount of effort into their fan engagement. MUST and CST are two outstanding advocates for their members and have a huge amount of knowledge and experience. I’m also delighted that Aaryaman Banerji and David Millar from Lane Clark and Peacock will be bringing their expertise in football governance & strategic communications.”

Rhion Jones, Consultation Guru, said:

“As the legislation requires both fan consultation as well as fan engagement, clubs will need to adapt to new rules and supporters will need to adjust their expectations. When done well, consultation can be extremely rewarding for everyone and help build loyalty, trust and commitment. Done badly, and it can lead to disappointment and division. I look forward to describing best practice so that local communities can leverage real benefits from knowing that football clubs will consistently respond to their supporters’ wish to be involved.”

This event is tailored for football club executives, senior managers, supporters’ trusts, industry bodies or specialists, sports policy-makers, or those specialising in public engagement programmes.

It’s an opportunity to embrace the emerging regulatory framework, learn best practices in fan engagement and consultation, and network with others addressing the same agenda. It’s designed to help those needing to plan and implement new, compliant ‘fan engagement’ and ‘fan consultation’ activities, as well as those with a professional or personal interest in the field.

The event will take place from 10:15-15:30 at the El Alamein Room, Victory Services Club, 63-79 Seymour St, Tyburnia, London W2 2HF. You can book via https://www.tickettailor.com/events/thinkfanengagement/1650506 or the QR code below.
